The Travel Daily Team

Travel Daily is produced each day by a dedicated team of experienced professionals. Our aim is to be first with the news, bringing the travel industry all of the relevant information they need, as well as providing an entertaining and edifying read.

Travel Daily’s staff include:

Management

Bruce Piper, Managing Editor

Email: bruce.piper@traveldaily.com.au

Bruce changed his career completely when he and his wife Jenny bought Travel Daily in 2004. He’s proud of his more than 20 years as an electrical engineer but thinks the travel industry is a lot more fun!

Bruce and Jenny have grown Travel Daily to hold a significant place in the Australian travel publishing scene, and are proud of Travel Daily’s reputation for accurate and timely reporting – as well as providing something to smile about each day.

Bruce loves writing the Window Seat column, writing quirky photo captions and fiddling with computers, and when he’s not working enjoys spending time with their three teenage children as well as being involved with his local church.

Jenny Piper, Managing Director

email: jenny.piper@traveldaily.com.au

Like most women, Jenny is a great multitasker, combining various roles within the business with running a family. Her day to day role sees her managing the company’s finances, staff and strategy, but she also writes some features and drives the development of Travel Daily’s popular supplements.

Jenny has been in the travel industry since she and Bruce purchased Travel Daily, and before that worked as a pharmacist as well as bringing up three children.

When she’s not in the office Jenny enjoys spending time with friends and activities with her family. Her favourite place in the world is Vincentia on the NSW South Coast.

Editorial

Guy Dundas, Editor

Email: guy.dundas@traveldaily.com.au

Guy has been with the Travel Daily team for almost 4 years. He has over 12 years experience in the travel industry, having previously worked for Southern World Vacations, United Vacations, Adventure World, Talpacific Holidays and Scenic Tours.

In his role as Editor, Guy enjoys getting the industry scoops. He was the first to swoop in on Delta Air Lines’ launch into Australia and Qantas’ direct services between Sydney and Dallas/Fort Worth.

When Guy isn’t working or travelling, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters and riding his bike.

After recently spending eight hours in Paris on his way back from a conference in Bordeaux, the city has left Guy wanting more, and he hopes to return to explore the French capital with his family.

Guy is a life-long Bulldogs fan and is extremely competitive, especially when it comes to NRL inter-office results day in Travel Daily’s industry footy tipping competition.

Chantel, otherwise known to us as Chonos, joined Travel Daily a year ago to support the editorial team during a period of growth for the company.

Chantel has a strong travel industry background with her previous employment including stints at Flight Centre and Carlson Marketing.

Naturally, Chantel loves to travel with her favourite holiday destinations being North, South and Central America, and says these places offer so much variety in culture, language, climate and sightseeing.

Meeting new people and getting to experience exciting destinations is what Chantel enjoys about working at Travel Daily.

In her spare time, Chantel enjoys catching up with family and friends, going to the gym and shopping!

She too is a Bulldogs supporter and likes to compete with Guy each week to see who scored the highest in the NRL footy tipping competition.

Amanda (aka Mands) started at Travel Daily in December 2008, joining the team after working at Flight Centre.

She is co-editor for our Cruise Weekly and Pharmacy Daily publications and also provides support to the Travel Daily editorial team.

Amanda enjoys the variety in her role including getting to research stories, and also working with the great staff at Travel Daily.

Her favourite holiday destination is New Zealand, but she’d love to explore Antarctica and South America one day.

Amanda has no interest in football whatsoever, but is a good sport and puts her tips in for the footy tipping competition each week just for the fun of it.

Marketing and Advertising

Lisa Maroun, Marketing & Advertising Manager

Email: lisa.maroun@traveldaily.com.au

Lisa has been working in the travel industry for almost 10 years now, 5 of which have been with Travel Daily.

Prior to joining the Australian travel trade’s favourite online publication, Lisa was at Scenic Tours, which was her first taste of working in the travel industry.

She loves the challenges and variety in her role, working with fantastic clients and the fun and friendly team at Travel Daily which makes it a pleasure coming to work each day.

If your company is looking at ways to maximise your trade marketing spend, then Lisa is your “go-to” person.

Lisa’s top travel destination is New York City. After a flying visit on a familiarisation to The Big Apple in 2010, she’s already booked a holiday to return to the city that never sleeps this year.

When Lisa’s not working she enjoys travelling, catching up with family and friends and exercising.

And on a weekend, you’re most likely to catch Lisa at a Parramatta Eels football game. You know it’s time to put your footy tips in when Lisa is sporting her Parra jersey at work on a Friday.

Lisa Martin, Advertising Coordinator

Email: lisa.martin@traveldaily.com.au

Lisa started at Travel Daily in 2004 in an administration role, when Bruce and Jenny purchased the business.

As demand for advertising in the Travel Daily issue grew, Lisa took on the responsibility to manage the day-to-day advertising requests for the newsletter.

Working with the great staff in the office is what Lisa enjoys most about being at Travel Daily.

Her ideal holiday destination is the USA, and she hopes to get there in the not too distant future.

In her spare time, Lisa enjoys spending time with her two children and catching up with friends.

Whilst most people ‘rode-off’ the Cronulla Sharks after their dismal performance last year, Lisa has stuck by her team in 2011, and backing the Sharkies each week has her coming ahead of the Travel Daily team in the office footy tipping competition.

Since joining the company in March 2010, Magda has played a huge role in setting up Travel Daily’s regular supplements and maintaining the extremely popular competitions across each of our publications.

Magda loves the variety of tasks associated with her role which makes each day different, as well as working with the fantastic team at Travel Daily.

She says that one day she would love to go Rio de Janeiro in Brazil to experience the biggest carnival in the world and learn some sexy salsa moves.

Magda enjoys going to the gym when she’s not working and spending quality time with her family & friends.

Travel Daily’s free footy tipping competition for the travel industry, with over 1200 tippers this year, is managed by Magda. She supports the team who’s at the top of the ladder each week.

Website Management

Heather CraigHeather Craig, Website Manager

Email: heather@traveldaily.com.au

Heather’s first role in the travel industry started 4 years ago when she joined Travel Daily as Website Manager.

Following a career in nursing, Heather was looking for a role that provided flexibility in working hours to allow her to look after the family, and something that offered a variety of work tasks – so along came Travel Daily.

Heather has played an instrumental role in the development of Travel Daily’s comprehensive new website and keeps all the jobs, competitions and news up-to-date for the convenience of staff working in the travel industry.

Amongst Heather’s many great qualities is her excellent eye for detail, which is extremely important when maintaining the website. During her spare time Heather enjoys spending time with her family, as well as reading, cooking and getting creative with her sewing machine.

Her favourite holiday spot is the NSW South Coast, and when she’s not holidaying there you can find her ‘travelling’ from her armchair via Google Earth.
